Dear Reader,
I’ve decided to try something different this month. Rather than me mumble on about each song individually, I’d rather just address this month’s picks by picking out specific favorites. Many of the songs on the list are from new bands, brand new songs, old favorites with something new and old songs that are new. The Growlers new single, “City Club”, is number one on my list for its urgency, you need to hear this song first. Produced by Julian Casablancas, a hero of mine. This song and album, with the same name, is new music not to miss. Rock jams likeLuna’s “23 Minutes In Brussels” topped the list for its seductive bass line, its catchy guitar riff with their leader’s guiding and calm voice. Say a Prayer/Tell me/Do you miss me? I don’t know why, or why bands do this, but I love when bands name a song and album as their own name. Ultimate Painting by Ultimate Painting on Ultimate Painting is the song that has gotten me through October. It’s calm, Velvet Underground feel, with beautiful harmonies and melodies, Ultimate Painting will become your next favorite band. Until next month! Jess If you have any suggestions for next month or want to discuss any of my October picks, let me know! [email protected] OR @jessfsamson
