Dearest Reader,
It’s the last picks of the year! Trust me when I say it’s been an absolute blast blogging for music fans and showing the world when and what I’m listening to. 2016 had so many great new releases but it also suffered a plentiful of losses musically. Here’s how I ended my 2016: Neil Young – Razor Love The next three songs are all featured in Amazon Prime’s Transparent. As much as I absolutely love the program, the soundtrack of the show is what really makes it. Neil Young’s “Razor Love” was featured in the second episode and I knew from there I’d be hooked. Passion, love, devotion set to a mellow and easy pace sets this song above all others this month. LCD Soundsystem – Dance Yrself Clean December was particularly stressful for me. Whether it was trying to get all of my Christmas presents wrapped and ready to go on time or having to face the cold and loneliness of December, LCD Soundsystem’s “Dance Yrself Clean” was there for me in every sense. The slow and steady start set to the relatable story building up to the ultimate blast; “Dance Yrself Clean” laid out my troubled emotions and took them away. That’s the great thing about music, it’s not just calming or an escape– but it’s therapy in its own way. Yoko Ono & The Apples in Stereo – Nobody See Me Like You Do I’ve never experienced Yoko Ono’s music before hearing this song and when I asked around on how close family and friends felt about Yoko’s art, no one really had a substantial opinion. Whether you like her or not, Yoko kicks ass and this song is truly something special. Yoko puts the love back in love song with “Nobody Sees Me Like You Do”. Whether your 2016 was good or bad, I loved every minute of blogging. Even in the end, I still believe that music is meant to be heard at specific times in our lives for a reason. I don’t have plans on continuing the blog in 2017, but if you want it – you got it. To 2017! Jess Samson
